Remedy Place in Los Angeles and New York built a whole social club around private ice bath, sauna and contrast suites, "reserved privately for you or you and your party". It is the new night out: a group of friends, a sauna glowing hot, a plunge ice cold, and the whole space to yourselves.

The Wellness Suite for Two

One hundred and twenty minutes. Two of you. Nobody else. The Wellness Suite for Two is at PURE Union Square in Aberdeen and PURE Lothian Road in Edinburgh.

At Lothian Road the suite is tucked away in the basement, far from the spa floor. Inside: an infrared sauna, a plunge you can have hot or cold, and a relaxation lounge. Warm up together, dare each other into the cold, then lie back and talk for as long as you like.

Bring the whole crew. Group wellness suites give your friends, your birthday party or your team a private suite to themselves.

Planning the Christmas team social? Skip the same old Christmas do. Book a group suite and take turns between the heat and the ice, cheer each other into the plunge, then flop in the lounge together. How a suite evening flows

1. Arrive together. Your private suite is ready and waiting, warm and quiet, just for your group.
2. Heat first. Settle into the infrared sauna and let the warmth soak in while you catch up.
3. The dare. Into the cold plunge, one at a time or all together. Gasps, laughter, then that wide-awake rush.
4. Repeat. Heat, cold, heat again, at your own pace. Nobody is watching the clock but you.
5. Lounge. Finish in the relaxation lounge, glowing, talking and completely switched off.

Biohacking Wellness Package, 60 minutes, £79 midweek, £89 weekend

Build your own hour from our wellness technology. Choose from the cold plunge, LED light therapy for the face, mild hyperbaric oxygen, Therabody compression boots and Therabody SmartGoggles, and at Union Square also the Zerobody dry float and the red light-infused infrared sauna. It is your personal biohacking lab for an hour.

Performance Recharge Experience, 90 minutes, £115

The full athlete treatment. Thirty minutes in Therabody compression boots, the recovery boots pro athletes use, then 60 minutes breathing 90–95% oxygen in our mild hyperbaric spa chamber. What the research shows

• Hot then cold. A review of 18 studies found that alternating hot and cold water left people less sore after exercise than resting. Danish winter swimmers studied by researchers moved between sauna and cold water in exactly this rhythm.
• Wide awake. In a 2023 study, people felt more active, alert and attentive after five minutes in cold water.
• Calmer by evening. A 2025 review of 11 trials found people reported less stress 12 hours after a cold plunge.
• Fresher legs. A 2024 review of 17 trials found air compression cut muscle soreness straight after a session and again four days later.
