Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you're a regular to the world of the beauty spa or are trying a new treatment for the first time we've compiled a list of some of the most common questions we get asked.

General

We would always recommend arriving 10 minutes before your treatment time.

Any massage or facial treatments are not advised during the first trimester.

After the first trimester you are able to have most Spa facials and beauty treatments. We also have a special pregnancy menu. Please be aware that your skin will be more sensitive during waxing.

If having a tint treatment, you will require a new patch test as the sensitivity of your skin changes during pregnancy.

You must be 16 years old for our Spa & Beauty Treatments. We offer a special teen menu for those under 16. For younger children please call or live chat with us to discuss treatment options.

We do offer a student discount - students with a valid, recognised student ID receive 20% off bookings Monday-Thursday, and 10% off bookings Friday-Sunday. Not valid in conjunction with other offers or discounts, discount applied on checkout, bookings only, dependent on availability

We have changed our Robe Policy and no longer provide a robe and slippers alongside spa treatments, spa packages or spa days. This is part of our sustainability initiative to reduce our carbon footprint and our move to Net Zero. The environmental impact of cleaning our robes is one of our greatest carbon emissions. We want to eliminate this completely.

Our new policy allows clients to bring their own robe and/or slippers. If you decide to bring your own we will give you a £5 gift card which can be redeemed
on a future treatment. This gift card is valid for 3 months.

Waxing Treatments

Hot wax is applied in a thick layer and left to set. It is gentler because the heat allows the hair follicle to open up before the wax is peeled off. Hot wax removes more stubborn hair and provides a superior finish.

Keep the area moisturised, this will enable the hair to break through the skin easily. Exfoliate one to two weeks after being waxed when you feel the hair growing back. Do not exfoliate everyday, just once or twice a week at most. Regularly wash your exfoliating gloves/mit in your washing machine.

We say half centimetre or longer is perfect. If you have a feeling that your hair is too long, don’t worry we will trim it for you.

Let the hair grow to a minimum of half a centimetre long. The longer you can leave it the better. It can take more than one wax to get a smooth result, this is because some previously shaved hair will be in a resting phase and be too short to wax. It will look smooth, but may feel a little stubbly until all the hair has grown out and been waxed.

We do supply disposable pants or you can wear your own underwear, although there may be a risk of wax or creams getting on the fabric.

It is all done while you are lying down.

Yes, but please only wear a tampon, we also ask you to use the wipes provided. Please bear in mind that waxing can be slightly more painful when you are premenstrual or menstruating.

Everyone is different. You should get two good hair free weeks, then your hair will start to grow back. This is then the best time to gently exfoliate to help the hair break through the skin. Most people return to the salons every four or five weeks.

Yes! PURE Spa & Beauty salons are open late. Check out our salons for individual opening times.

Spray Tanning

You should wear whatever you feel comfortable in, most women go topless and wear a dark thong (We have disposable thongs available) However it is entirely up to you, many ladies feel more comfortable wearing a bikini. We recommend any clothing worn during the misting process should be dark. Although the tanning solution will wash out, it is more likely to stain lighter clothing.

If this is your first spray tan at PURE Spa & Beauty then yes, you do require a patch test at least 24 hours before your treatment. Just pop into the salon and we will apply a small amount of the tan behind an ear or to the crease of your arm. You will need to leave it on for 24 hours. Providing you have no reactions we will carry out a spray tan.

Do not apply deodorants or perfumes as these can prevent the absorption of the tanning solution. Do not use moisturisers on the day of your tan as they can act as a barrier to the solution.

Ideally, leave it for between 8-12 hours, the tan will keep developing for up to 24 hours. If you get your spray tan done at the end of the day and then go to bed wearing it. You can then wash it off in the morning. We recommend to have a shower, not a bath.
