Living With Stiffness: A Calm, Clothed Hour on Your Terms

Oct 16, 2026by PURE Spa UK

If you live with Parkinson's, MS or another neurological condition, you plan your days with care. Getting out of a chair, turning over in bed, sitting through a long car journey: you know exactly what your body needs, and when.

So we built this hour around you. You stay clothed. You stay in control. The room is private and the pace is yours. All that's left is to lie back and enjoy an hour that's completely about you.

Your hour, your rules

  • Stay fully dressed. BackHug, the Zerobody dry float and compression boots are all enjoyed in your own clothes.
  • Be in control. On BackHug you set the strength, speed, heat and focus in the app, and you can pause whenever you like.
  • Total privacy. Our wellness rooms are private, so you settle in at your own speed.
  • Your best time of day. Every PURE spa is open seven days a week and late. Book the hours when you feel at your brightest.
  • Bring your person. A partner, friend or carer is welcome to come along.

1. BackHug: the back session you steer

BackHug at Lothian Road, Edinburgh is the robotic back therapy bed that's taking off in gyms, recovery studios and sports teams. You lie back fully clothed. Twenty-six robotic fingers roll and press their way along your back, from your neck to your lower back. A zero-gravity leg rest lifts your legs to 90° so your lower back sinks into the bed. Warmth builds beneath you.

It starts with a scan of your back, so every pass follows the shape of your spine. Then you take the controls: gentle or firm, slow or brisk, more heat, more focus between the shoulder blades. It's your session, set your way.

The results speak for themselves. In BackHug's own study of 13 people, a single session left them reporting 44% less back discomfort.

A 60-minute session is £75, and it includes 60 minutes of spa and wellness facilities (facilities vary by spa, visit our spa page for details). One BackHug session a day is the sweet spot.

2. Zerobody dry float: weightless, warm and dry

At Union Square, Aberdeen, the Zerobody dry float lets you lie on around 400 litres of warm water under a soft membrane, fully clothed and completely dry. No tank to climb into: you simply lie back and feel the weight lift off every joint.

Choose a programme of guided mindfulness, breathing or music, and let the session carry you. Our team is on hand to help you on and off the bed.

Zerobody beds are used by top-flight sports teams in American football, baseball, basketball and soccer, and by care homes in Italy and France. Thirty minutes is £45 and 60 minutes is £55.

3. Compression boots: legs that feel light again

Slip into our Therabody compression boots, lie back and let them do the work. They inflate and release in a slow, rhythmic squeeze from your feet up to your thighs. It's a deeply soothing feeling, and you stay fully dressed throughout.

They're tested in tough company. In a trial with 72 ultramarathon finishers, a session in compression boots left legs feeling less fatigued straight afterwards.

Thirty minutes is £35 and 60 minutes is £55, at Lothian Road, Edinburgh, Union Square, Aberdeen and Witney Lakes.
